Ophiolites and Oceanic crust

GLOM is an informal working group that brings together researchers engaged in studying the many geological aspects of the oceanic lithosphere, both present and past (ophiolites). Active since the 1970s, it has promoted scientific collaboration for decades through annual meetings, where the latest research results in this field are presented and discussed, with the active involvement of students and young researchers. These activities have fostered a new generation of scientists dedicated to the study of ophiolites and the oceanic lithosphere, and more broadly to magmatism and tectonics. Over the years, international workshops and field excursions in globally significant ophiolitic areas have also been organized.
